Hindu displaced people in Maungdaw Township, under the control of the Arakan Army (AA), are reportedly in need of assistance, according to the displaced individuals.

There are reportedly over 4,000 Hindu conflict-affected people in Maungdaw Township, with most residing in displacement camps managed by the Arakan People’s Revolutionary Government, according to the displaced individuals.

All of the displaced individuals reportedly lack international humanitarian aid and are in need of warm clothing and blankets as winter approaches, according to the Hindu conflict-affected people.

As part of Operation “1027” by the Three Brotherhood Alliance, which includes the Arakan Army (AA), the AA captured the junta’s DonePike border guard outpost located on the Maungdaw-Ah Ngu Maw highway in the Arakan region on November 13 last year.

The Arakan Army (AA) is conducting offensives to fully capture Maungdaw Township, while junta forces are mounting resistance with combined ground, navy and air operations. As a result, intense fighting is ongoing, and displaced civilians are reportedly living in fear of airstrikes.

As a result, people are facing difficulties in commuting and working. With no regular jobs available, many are left without a steady income, according to reports.

Due to these hardships, Hindu conflict-affected people report lacking income to afford basic necessities, such as food, clothing, and blankets, and are therefore in urgent need of assistance.

Displaced people report that intense fighting is ongoing in Maungdaw Township as the Arakan Army (AA) launches offensives to fully capture the area, including an assault on the No. 5 Border Guard Police Battalion near the entrance to Maungdaw town.

Hindus, as a minority group in the Arakan region, have reportedly faced challenges amid ongoing conflicts, including incidents of abductions, violence, and killings, according to members of the Hindu community.
