Myanmar Junta Airstrike on Yoe Ta Yote Village Leaves Three Dead

On December 31, at approximately 1 PM, the Myanmar junta carried out an airstrike on Yoe Ta Yote village in Ponnakyun Township. According to local villagers, three civilians were killed, and nine others, including an Abbot monk, were injured in the attack.

As a result of the airstrike, two women and one man were killed, and nine others were injured.

According to villagers from Yoe Ta Yote, the victims of the airstrike included 76-year-old Daw Ma Thar Hla from Yoe Ta Yote village, 25-year-old Ma Oo San Nwe from Tan Kho village, and 18-year-old Ko Myo Zaw Tun, a displaced resident from Kwan Taung village who had been sheltering in Yoe Ta Yote.

The injured include nine individuals, comprising six men and three women, among whom is an Abbot monk from Yoe Ta Yote village.

In addition, villagers from Yoe Ta Yote reported that several buildings, including schools and monasteries, as well as many homes, were destroyed in the attack.

Villagers from Yoe Ta Yote have stated that military bases in Sittwe have been deliberately firing heavy weapons in the area with specific intentions.

The people of Arakan have reported that in the decisive battle of Arakan, the Myanmar junta’s forces have been continuously attacking civilians with heavy weapons, cluster bombs, naval vessels, fighter jets, and drones, carrying out indiscriminate killings on a daily basis.

In the decisive battle of Arakan, the Arakan Army has successfully captured and fully controlled several areas, including Paletwa region, Maungdaw, Buthidaung, Rathedaung, Ponnakyun, Kyauktaw, Mrauk U, Minbrar, Myaybon, Pauktaw, Rambre, Thandwe, Taunggoke, Ann, and Gwa townships.

The people of Arakan have reported that the remaining military strongholds to be targeted and captured by the Arakan Army are in Sittwe, Kyaukphru, and Manaung townships. They also mentioned that military tensions continue to escalate in these areas.

While the Arakan Army has declared its intention to seek a political resolution through negotiations, and the Myanmar junta has also stated its willingness to find a political solution, the junta forces continue to target and attack civilian areas, demonstrating a continued military offensive.
