The Three Brotherhood Alliance, which includes the Arakan Army (AA), announced on April 5 that although they began a unilateral ceasefire on April 1, the military council’s forces have continued attacking the Arakan Army with coordinated ground, naval, and air assaults.
On April 2, junta forces launched attacks using heavy artillery and drones near the villages of Thapyu Taung, Pyar Te, and Pyin Shay in Kyaukphru Township. It is reported that the junta’s naval base at Thitpot Taung, Police Battalion 32 at Dotan Taung, and ground troops carried out a total of 90 drone bombings and 60 artillery strikes on that day.

The Arakan Army stated that at around 3:45 PM on April 5, the junta conducted an airstrike, dropping bombs over the Yoma mountain range.
The AA further reported that the junta continues to ignore the unilateral ceasefire announcement and persists with coordinated attacks involving ground, naval, and air forces.
The Three Brotherhood Alliance, which includes the Arakan Army (AA), declared a one-month ceasefire from April 1 to April 30. Meanwhile, the military junta announced a three-week ceasefire from April 2 to April 22.
As part of the Three Brotherhood Alliance’s “Operation 1027,” the Arakan Army (AA) launched an attack on November 13, 2023, targeting the junta’s Done Pike outpost along the Maungdaw–Ah Ngu Maw Road in Arakan and successfully captured the base.
In the final phase of Arakan war, the Arakan Army has now fully seized control of 14 townships across the Arakan region, including Paletwa.
The Arakan Army has yet to capture only three remaining townships Sittwe, Kyaukphru, and Manaung. According to locals, intense military tensions continue in both Sittwe and Kyaukphru.
