The temperature in Mandalay is currently 36°C. However, people are eagerly lining up, hoping to get food packages handed out under the intense heat.This area is the same location where the fire broke out after the earthquake on March 28.
The homes in this area are built on what was once a landfill site.These homes have been gradually constructed over the past two decades, and the number of houses has steadily increased.
From a scientific standpoint, highly flammable gases such as methane may be present under the old landfill due to anaerobic respiration. It is believed by some eyewitnesses and experts that the release of these gases, triggered by the earthquake, caused the fire to erupt in this area.
