We are facing a serious water crisis here. We are being given water only for drinking, but not enough for daily use. When we go to collect water, it’s very difficult some people get water, while others don’t. This is because the water supply to the motor is very low. There’s a motor on top that doesn’t get enough water, and another motor below where the water flows a bit better.
We’ve asked them to increase the water level in the pipes. When they do, we can collect some water, but when they don’t, we get nothing. The CIC team comes and tells us that we are being given 22 liters of water per person, but this is not enough. How can we manage everything with just 22 liters? What are we supposed to do drink, cook, clean, wash clothes, bathe, and take care of our children with only that?
There are constant fights near the water point. One person fights with another because the water doesn’t come evenly. Some people wait in line all morning and get just a pitcher or a liter of water, while others don’t get any at all. There are 75 families relying on one water motor, and another motor is shared by 80 families. It’s not enough.
We’ve been waiting in line all day without even taking a drop of water home. We expected they would fix the motor or install a new one, but they haven’t. They split one motor into two, but still, there isn’t enough water.
We’ve complained to the CIC office many times, but they just tell us that we’re already getting 22 liters. That’s not enough. How can we survive in this hot summer? Children are getting sick and even dying. Elderly people are suffering. People wait in line for hours, and their backs and knees hurt. Some don’t even get one liter of water after standing all day.
We live in an area without any pond, stream, or lake. We rely completely on the water provided to us. But they say funding from abroad has stopped, so they can’t do anything.
We are desperate. We don’t know if the problem is low water supply or mismanagement. When the water is shared fairly, everyone gets some. But right now, more than 80 people are going without water. Some families can’t even collect 8 liters.
We urgently need help. Water is essential for life. Please tell us what can we do to increase access to water? How can we survive like this?
