Kyaukphru, May 23
The Arakan Army (AA) stated in its May 22 announcement that it is conducting town-capturing operations with measured restraint.
It said that the ongoing urban battles in the final phase of the Arakan war are being carefully managed and carried out with limitations.
This is said to be part of implementing the goal of “bringing the entire Arakan region under the hands of the Arakan people.”
The Arakan Army (AA) is launching an offensive on Kyaukphyu town, but instead of using drones or heavy artillery, it is conducting ground operations using soldiers and military tactics. According to ground-level military sources, the AA is leveraging its advantage on the ground to capture territory.
In the battles at Kyaukphru, the Myanmar junta forces are reportedly resisting with joint operations involving ground, naval, and air forces. According to ground-level military sources, they are relying heavily on airstrikes, naval fire support, and deploying a large number of advanced drones in their defense.
The Arakan Army (AA) now has only three townships left to capture in its military operations – Kyaukphru, Manaung, and Sittwe, and it is currently launching a full offensive to seize control of Kyaukphru Township.
In the final phase of the Arakan war, the AA has already taken control of 15 townships, including the Paletwa region, and is implementing administrative mechanisms as the Arakan People’s Revolutionary Government.
