The Eid al-Adha festival (Qurbani Eid) of Muslims began on June 7 and is still being celebrated today, June 8.

Muslims are residing in townships controlled by the Arakan Army (AA), such as Maungdaw, Buthidaung, Rathedaung, Pauktaw, Kyauktaw, Ponnakyun, Mrauk-U, and Minbra.

In those areas, the Qurbani Eid festival is being prepared and celebrated in accordance with Islamic traditions.

The Arakan People’s Revolutionary Government has granted an exemption from the livestock slaughter tax during the Qurbani Eid period.

Qurbani Eid, in Islam, means “sacrifice and charitable offering.” It is said that the meat is divided into three portions – for the family, for relatives, and for the poor and needy.
