Lambashia, Ukhiya – 12 June 2025

A four-year-old Rohingya girl who was abducted from Lambashia Camp-1 (West) in Cox’s Bazar was rescued unharmed this morning following swift action by the Armed Police Battalion (APBn).

The child, Noor Shehera, daughter of Mahmudul Hasan, went missing around 9:00 AM on 11 June 2025 while on her way to visit her grandfather’s house in neighboring Camp-1 (East), Block E. Her family reported that unknown abductors contacted them shortly afterward using a local mobile number and demanded a ransom of BDT 500,000. The kidnappers also issued threats of harm if law enforcement was involved.

Upon receiving the complaint, 14 APBn authorities launched an immediate response operation under the directive of Additional Commanding Officer DIG Mohammad Siraj Amin and the supervision of Deputy Commanding Officer SP Sudipto Roy. The operations were led on the ground by Operations Officer Samir Chandra Sutradhar of the Lambashia Police Camp.

Multiple raids were conducted across suspected areas, which caused the kidnappers to panic and abandon the child in the Kutupalong camp area before fleeing. The following morning, around 9:00 AM on 12 June, a day patrol team from Lambashia Police Camp discovered the girl in Kutupalong. After proper identification and verification, she was safely returned to her parents.

The rescue operation has been praised by camp residents and local authorities, who emphasized the importance of community cooperation and quick police response in such cases.

An investigation is currently underway to identify and arrest those involved in the abduction.
