The Arakan People’s Revolutionary Government announced today, December 29, that it will prioritize the protection and safeguarding of foreign investments and projects in the Arakan region.
It stated that any foreign investment contributing to the economic prosperity and regional development of the Arakan region is recognized and welcomed.
The Arakan People’s Revolutionary Government stated that it will prioritize the security and safety of these investment projects, businesses, and investors, ensuring their protection.
It also stated that it will collaborate with companies to ensure the continued operation of foreign investments and projects in the region. It also expressed its willingness to engage in mutually beneficial partnerships.
In the decisive phase of the Arakan war, the Arakan Army (AA) has fully seized and taken control of Paletwa, along with Buthidaung, Rathedaung, Maungdaw, Ponnakyun, Kyauktaw, Mrauk-U, Minbrar, Myaybon, Pauktaw, Rambre, Thandwe, Taunggoke, Ann, and Gwa townships.
On December 28, the Institute for Strategy and Policy – Myanmar (ISP-Myanmar) reported that the Arakan Army (AA) controls 10 out of 11 Chinese projects in the Arakan region.
The Arakan Army (AA) has yet to seize Kyaukphyu Township, where Chinese projects are located, Sittwe, the capital hosting Indian projects, and Manaung Township, near Chinese project sites.
However, it was announced today that addressing Myanmar’s internal issues and events should always prioritize political solutions over military approaches.
China and India have expressed concerns about the safety and security of their projects and nationals in the Arakan region. The ULA/AA’s statements were issued prior to any offensives or seizures by the Arakan Army (AA) in areas where these projects are situated.
The Arakan Army (AA) controls the entire route of India’s Kaladan multi-modal transport project, while the Myanmar junta continues to maintain control over the port terminal of the project located in the capital, Sittwe.
