Internally displaced persons (IDPs) in areas controlled by the Arakan Army (AA) have stated that they are in need of warm clothes and blankets for assistance.

Although the Arakan Army (AA) controls up to 15 townships, including the Paletwa region, internally displaced persons (IDPs) have stated that they are facing difficulties due to the lack of international humanitarian assistance.

The internally displaced persons (IDPs) have stated that they are in need of blankets to endure the harsh cold of the winter season

An internally displaced woman from Ponnakyun Township shared with the Border News Agency, saying, “The prices of goods have gone up, and we haven’t received any blankets. No food, no utensils, and no clothes have come. Now, winter has arrived, and we only have a blanket to sleep on the ground. We are sleeping on the floor with the blanket wrapped around us. If I were to tell you the whole story, I don’t even have slippers to wear. My slippers have worn out, and I can’t afford to buy new ones.”

The internally displaced persons (IDPs) have stated that while they are in need of humanitarian assistance, they are unable to receive help due to the Myanmar junta’s restrictions on international humanitarian aid organizations. As a result, they are not receiving the assistance they require.

Since November 13, 2023, when the decisive battle in Arakan began, the Myanmar junta has blocked all land and water routes across the entire Arakan region, a situation that continues to this day, according to the people of Arakan.

Although the Arakan Army (AA) controls all three border entry points leading to central Myanmar, including those along the international borders with India and Bangladesh, the people of Arakan have stated that no international humanitarian aid organizations have entered to provide assistance so far.

As a result, internally displaced persons (IDPs) in areas controlled by the Arakan Army (AA) have stated that they urgently need warm clothes, blankets, and medicines.

An internally displaced woman from Ponnakyun Township shared with the Border News Agency, saying, “When we fled, we didn’t bring anything with us. Now, with the winter season here, I really need blankets. I also need clothes. We only have one or two cooking pots to eat from. If we are to receive anything, blankets and clothes would be helpful. Our family’s living situation is completely inadequate. Therefore, I hope we can receive assistance with food, clothing, and basic necessities.”

The Arakan Army (AA) controls the following townships in their entirety, including Paletwa, Buthidaung, Rathedaung, Maugndaw, Ponnakyun, Kyauktaw, Mrauk U, Minbrar, Myaybon, Pauktaw, Rambre, Thandwe, Taunggoke, Ann, and Gwa.

In addition, the people of Arakan have stated that there is ongoing military tension in Kyaukphru, Sittwe, and Manaung townships as well.

The people of Arakan have stated that in areas controlled by the Arakan Army (AA), the Arakan People’s Government is implementing administrative machinery and providing assistance for the reconstruction of homes.
