More than 200 displaced children in Ngapali town, Thandwe Township, are reportedly suffering from skin diseases, according to local residents of Ngapali.

In villages such as Lin Thar, Mya Pyin, and Jeiktaw in Ngapali Township, over 200 children under the age of 15 are reportedly suffering from skin rashes, according to displaced persons.

According to displaced persons, skin diseases have been occurring in those villages since September last year, and the number of affected children has now risen to over 200.

The skin diseases are reportedly caused by unsanitary environments, contaminated drinking water, and insect bites. Health workers have warned that the condition could worsen if not treated promptly.

Thandwe Township is home to over 20,000 displaced persons, with many in villages such as Ngapali, Lin Thar, Mya Pyin, and Jeiktaw struggling to access medical treatment due to severe food and livelihood challenges, according to local residents.

The Arakan Army (AA) fully took control of Thandwe Township on September 5 of last year.

During the decisive Arakan war, the Arakan Army (AA) successfully took full control of several townships, including Paletwa, Maungdaw, Buthidaung, Rathedaung, Ponnakyun, Kyauktaw, Mrauk U, Minbrar, Myaybon, Pauktaw, Rambre, Thandwe, Taunggoke, Ann, and Gwa.

The Arakan Army (AA) has yet to capture the townships of Sittwe, Kyaukphru, and Manaung. However, locals report escalating military tensions in these areas.

In areas under the control of the Arakan Army (AA) and other parts of the Arakan region, displaced persons and civilians frequently suffer from skin diseases. Most of them reportedly lack access to adequate medical treatment and rely on makeshift remedies, according to local residents.
