The Chief Adviser of the Government of Bangladesh (GOB) has called on Qatar to intensify global efforts to address the prolonged plight of the Rohingya community in Myanmar. The appeal was made during a high-level meeting held on Tuesday in Doha.
During the meeting, the Chief Adviser emphasized the urgent need for renewed international attention and action to support the long-persecuted Rohingya population, many of whom have been displaced due to decades of systemic violence and discrimination in Myanmar’s Rakhine State.
The Chief Adviser urged Qatar and the broader international community to play a more active role in advocating for the safe, dignified, and voluntary repatriation of the Rohingya to their homeland, while ensuring accountability and justice for the atrocities they have suffered.
Qatar, known for its diplomatic engagement in humanitarian issues, expressed its commitment to working with regional and global partners in pursuit of sustainable solutions to the crisis.
This meeting underscores Bangladesh’s continued diplomatic push to keep the Rohingya crisis on the global agenda, as the country continues to host over one million Rohingya refugees in camps near Cox’s Bazar.
