On December 21, the National Unity Government (NUG) issued a congratulatory message stating that it would join hands with the Arakan Army (AA) to fight together for the liberation of all the people of Myanmar and the downfall of the military dictatorship and junta regime.
They also expressed full confidence that under the leadership of the Arakan Army (AA) leaders, the entire Rakhine State will soon be liberated from the control of the military dictatorship.
They also stated that they are proud and delighted that, under the leadership of the Arakan Army (AA) leaders and the full bravery and determination of its members, the Western Regional Military Command (Na Pa Kha) was completely captured on December 20.
They stated that these victories are not only the triumph of the Arakan people but also a victory for all the people of Myanmar and revolutionary forces across the country who are fighting against the military dictatorship and striving for federal democracy. These achievements have elevated the revolutionary spirit to its highest level.
They also stated that achieving such a significant victory is a testament to the leadership of the Arakan Army (AA) leaders, the sacrifices and resilience of its members who gave their lives and endured hardships, and the perseverance, unity, and determination of the Arakan people in overcoming various challenges. These efforts are deeply honored and acknowledged.
The success of the revolutionary forces in overthrowing two major regional military commands of the Myanmar military within a year is described as historic victories. They also stated that the end of the military junta’s reign is approaching soon.
In the final decisive battles in Arakan, the Arakan Army (AA) has completely captured and now controls Maungdaw, Buthidaung, Rathedaung, Ponnakyun, Kyauktaw, Mrauk-U, Minbrar, Myaybon, Pauktaw, Rambre, Thandwe, Taunggoke, and Ann. Additionally, they have also fully taken control of the Paletwa region.
